Shannon Pickett, RN, BS

Shannon Pickett, Administrator, Medical Surgical Nursing & Care Coordination ​Shannon Picket is the Administrator of Medical Surgical and Care Coordination Services for UF Health St. Johns, where she provides the overall direction and leadership for providing safe, effective, and cost-efficient patient care within the service line.

Mrs. Picket has spent her entire 10-year nursing career at UF Health St. Johnsand credits her growth and development to the leadership here.

She joined UF Health St. Johnsin 2012 as a registered nurse/charge nurse in the Renal Care Unit before becoming Lead RN Care Coordinator in 2015. Mrs. Pickett was named Director of Care Coordination in 2018 and developed an integrated team approach to care transitions and population health. The program had a positive impact on decreasing unnecessary post-acute utilization, decreasing readmissions, and improving the overall health of those identified as high-risk or rising health risk.

Mrs. Pickett was promoted to her current role the following year. As Administrator of Medical-Surgical Services and Care Coordination, she has helped develop the RN/LPN primary health care delivery model and the Telemedicine Neuro Consult Program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has served as the Operations Chief for Incident Command, helping to develop the operational and clinical protocols to achieve the safest environment and best possible clinical outcomes.

Mrs. Pickett earned her undergraduate degree from Limestone University in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology. She earned her associate degree in Nursing from Gardner-Webb University.

She is chair of the First Coast Technical College-LPN Steering Committee.

In her spare time, Mrs. Pickett enjoys cheering for the University of Alabama football team and vacationing with her family. She and her husband, Jacob, have two children.
