SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla - May 3, 2006
Flagler Hospital has been awarded the Solucient, “100 Top Hospital Performance Improvement Leaders,” the only hospital in Northeast Florida to receive this distinction. Solucient, based in Evansville, Ill., is one of the nation's leading sources of healthcare information products.
Flagler Hospital was recognized for being among one hundred hospitals in the nation for making the greatest progress in improving hospital-wide performance over the last five years (2000-2004). Flagler Hospital exceeded national benchmarks for consistent improvement in clinical outcomes, safety, hospital efficiency, financial stability and growth.
“This national award again validates that Flagler is among the best hospitals in the country,” said Joseph Gordy, Flagler Hospital President. “The Solucient award, along with the 2006 Healthgrades Cardiac Care Award and the recent Best Places to Work in Northeast Florida Award, demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and quality.”
Data from thousands of hospitals across the nation was analyzed for significant gain in the following areas between 2000 and 2004:
- Fewer than expected complications, deaths and adverse safety events than other organizations
- Improved financial stability
- Safely allowing patients to be discharged sooner
- Successful management of the costs associated with providing healthcare
- Growth in patient volume
Hospital information was gathered from publicly available documents and was compiled to comprise the top 100 hospitals that exceeded established benchmarks. More information on this study is available at www.100tophospitals.com.
"Five years of steady, well-aligned improvement means that these 100 Performance Improvement (PI) Leaders have enormously increased the value they provide to their communities," said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president, performance improvement & 100 Top programs, Center for Healthcare Improvement at Solucient.
Findings from the third edition of Solucient's 100 Top Hospitals®: Performance Improvement Leaders study appears in the May 1, 2006 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.
