If you are breastfeeding, a lactation consultant will visit you to provide
physical and emotional support as you are adjusting to the breastfeeding
experience. The lactation consultant is a registered nurse who has received
additional specialized training in helping moms and babies with breastfeeding.
After you go home nursing staff will follow up with you via phone to see
how you and your baby are doing and to address any additional problems
you may have encountered since discharge. After discharge, breastfeeding
assistance is available to you 24 hours a day by calling the nursery at
Monthly breastfeeding support group meetings are also offered at the Flagler
Hospital Wellness Center.
The group welcomes breastfeeding mothers and their babies and pregnant
women the second Thursday each month from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm . The Flagler Hospital Wellness Center is located at 120 Health Park Blvd.
The class is facilitated by Dottie Colsant, RN, MSN, CLC; Angela Haynes-Harris,
RN, CLC; and Alanna White, RNC, IBCLC.
