Meet Dr. Marema

Picture of Dr. Marema Dr. Marema is one of the most respected surgeons in bariatric medicine. When Obesity Help magazine released its top 100 "Surgeon Rankings…Lives Transformed Score" derived from information collected from over 150,000 bariatric patients, Dr. Marema was listed as #1.

Dr. Marema has performed over 7,000 bariatric procedures and is nationally recognized as a leader in treating obesity. Currently, Dr. Marema serves as the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Flagler Hospital. Meet Dr. Koppman

John S. Koppman, MD is a fellowship-trained, board certified general surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery.  Dr. Koppman received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas after which he completed his general surgical residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.  During that time, he completed a one year research fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at New York University.   Dr. Koppman most recently completed a clinical fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Florida.  His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented his work at several international surgical conferences.  Dr. Koppman’s interests include the surgical treatment of morbid obesity with an emphasis on minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques.
