Gala VI, Enchantment on the Orient Express, was held on June 20-22, 2008 at The Ginn Hammock Beach Resort. The annual Flagler Health Care Foundation event raised $315,000 this year to help purchase a Multi-detector CT Scanner for The James D. Conzemius Heart Center at Flagler Hospital.
The elegant black-tie event was chaired by Mr. and Mrs. Brenda O’Connell and Dr. and Mrs. William Platko. More than 300 guests enjoyed an enchanted evening on a luxurious, make-believe, rail excursion visiting some of the most glamorous and exciting cities in Europe. The evening featured a predeparture reception in Venice, gourmet dining in Paris at the base of the Eiffel Tower, and then on to Vienna for entertainment, dancing, and a casino. Gifts, provided by local business, were purchased in “The Boutique” Silent Auction. Additional weekend events included a German buffet and entertainment on Friday night, June 20; dance lessons on Saturday afternoon, June 21, and a London brunch on Sunday, June 22.
