Event Description:
S.T.A.B.L.E Course Objectives
1. Discuss the risks, signs and symptoms, and treatment for hypoglycemia in the neonate while identifying candidates for umbilical line placement.
2. Identify infants at risk for hypothermia and the physiologic responses of temperature changes in the neonate.
3. Recall indications for respiratory support in the neonate by blood gas evaluation and x-ray interpretation.
4. Describe the assessment in the recognition of shock in the neonate and the indications for safe Dopamine administration.
5. Identify risk factors associated with infection in the neonatal period and the interpretation of CBC results.
6. Discuss coping mechanisms of parents of the sick newborn and the facilitation of parenting in the intensive care setting.
7. Summarize methods to decrease medical errors and the importance of self-evaluation during the post-resuscitative/pre-transport period
